Voices from the future 2020: How will we travel

Birmingham Birmingham, Prof Julia King CBE, Vice-Chancellor, Aston University, will discuss the challenges and opportunities that surround low-carbon transport with a focus on electric vehicles and new technologies. She will also be updating us on the work of the regional low carbon taskforce. Dr Simon Slater will introduce this presentation and a response will be given by Tom Magrath, Policy and Strategy Director, Centro, the West Midlands Integrated Transport Authority, followed by an audience discussion. This is the second in our new series of 'Voices from the future 2020' series which develop themes from 'a low carbon vision for the West Midlands in 2020.' The intention is to stimulate thinking amongst decision makers in the region of the positive future we can have, and how to get there. Aims: What could more sustainable travel in the future look like? What the region is doing and the steps required to achieve more sustainable travel by 2020 Audience: This event is for leaders and decision-makers involved in regional and sub-regional policy making with an interest in sustainable transport.
